DAY 1  Monday, April 24   USA DEPARTURE
Be at the airport 3 hours before our 6:35 pm departure for security and check-in procedures. Meals and in-flight services are per Turkish Airlines policies. We only have a one hour layover in Istanbul, so be ready to quickly change planes!

 



 

 

DAY 2  Tuesday, April 25   ARRIVE TEL AVIV

Change aircraft in Istanbul.  Arrive Tel Aviv around 10 pm. Proceed through passport control, meet our guide and depart to our seaside hotel for lodging.  We will spend two nights at this hotel so that we can get acclimated to the new time zone.

 

 

 

 

DAY 3  Wednesday, April 26   COAST OF SHARON

Visit Caesarea Maritima (Acts 10, Peter's encounter with Cornelius) to view the Roman theater, Pontius Pilate stone, Caesar’s seaside home and the stadium. Continue to Herod’s harbor and the Roman aqueducts. Return to Netanya for dinner and some leisure time.

 

 

DAY 4  Thursday, April 27   JEZREEL VALLEY, CARMEL, AKKO, GALILEE

Visit Megiddo, Armageddon of Rev. 16. See the dig and explore the water tunnel. Ascend the range of Mt. Carmel for Muhraqa (Elijah’s contest with the prophets of Baal). Continue to Akko (Ptolemais, Paul, Act. 21:7). On the way to Tiberius, stop at Mt. Precipice for views of the Jezreel Valley and Nazareth. Proceed to your lodging on the Sea of Galilee.

 

 

 

DAY 5  FRIDAY, APRIL 28    CIRCLE SEA TOUR

Spend today in the ministry triangle of Jesus.  Visit Bethsaida, home of Peter, Philip, Andrew. Proceed to Chorazin.  Stop at the Mt. of Beatitudes, Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5-7). Optional is a foot descent to the seaside of Tabgha. Visit Capernaum, the center of Jesus' Galilean ministry. Continue to Magdala. Sail the sea in the Jesus Fishing Boat, a double-scale replica of a Roman fishing boat.  End the day on top of Mt. Arbel catching views of the ministry triangle of Jesus.

 

 

DAY 6  SATURDAY, APRIL 29  UPPER JORDAN

Depart the sea on the ancient Via Maris, stop briefly at Hazor (ancient crossroads, largest Canaanite city) and continue to Tel Dan. Walk through the Nature Preserve beside the roaring Jordan River to Tel Dan. View the High Place of Jeroboam and the Canaanite gate. Proceed to Mt. Bental for views into Syria. Return to the hotel.

DAY 7  SUNDAY, APRIL 30   BETH-SHEAN, JERICHO, DEAD SEA

Depart the Sea of Galilee for Tel Beth-shean. From the ruins of Scythopolis consider the demise of Saul, Israel's first king. View ruins of the only Decapolis city west of the Jordan. Continue to the Dead Sea. Visit Harod Springs.  Visit Qumran and Ein Gedi before checking into our hotel.

 

 

DAY 8  MONDAY, MAY 1   MASADA, SOUTHERN ISRAEL
Ascend the fortress of Masada by cable car. View the ruins of the last stand of the Zealots against the Romans. Walk down the Roman Seige ramp to the waiting bus.  Visit Tel Arad and Beersheba before heading north to Jerusalem.

DAY 9  TUESDAY, MAY 2   JERUSALEM

Depart for the Mt. Olives for further orientation to Jerusalem's Old City. Walk the Palm Sunday route past Dominus Flevit Church to the Garden of Gethsemane. Proceed to the southern excavations of the Ophel Ridge. Enter Area G to explore the dig of the City of David and continue to the Warren Shaft. Optional is a descent to the Gihon Spring and a walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel (bring old shoes for the walk through knee-deep water) to the Pool of Siloam (Jn. 9). (Western Wall Tunnels are subject to confirmation) Enter the Dung Gate and ascend the Temple Mount to view the Dome of the Rock. Continue to the intact St. Anne's Crusader Church, the Pools of Bethesda, and the Ecce Homo Arch. Walk through portions of the Via Dolorosa and the marketplaces.

 

 

DAY 10  WEDNESDAY, MAY 3   SAMARIA

The excursion this morning is through Bible heartland via Mt. Ephraim, Bethel, Shiloh, Shechem, Tel Balata to view the alleged Joshua Stone. Stand between Mt. Gerazim and Mt. Ebal to consider the "cursings and the blessings." Visit Jacob's Well (Jesus and the Samaritan woman). Optional is a visit atop Mt. Gerazim to view the Samaritan Passover Site. Continue to the Royal City of Samaria (Sebastia). View the threshing floor and the Temple of Augustus.

 

 

DAY 11  THURSDAY, MAY 4    JERUSALEM + FREE DAY

Begin the day at the Western Wall to see Bar Mitzvahs. Continue to the Western Wall Tunnels. The balance of the day is at leisure.

DAY 12  FRIDAY, MAY 5   JERUSALEM

This morning visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Proceed to the Jewish Quarter to see the Broad Wall and the Byzantine Cardo Map (Madeba map replica). We will head out for lunch in Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Fields.  We will do some olive wood shopping and visit Herodian.  Then on the way back to our hotel, visit the Garden Tomb for a private tour and the Lord’s Supper.

 

 

DAY 13   SATURDAY, MAY 6  SHEPHELAH

Visit Nebi Samwil (the Tomb of Samuel). Continue to Tel Gezer, Lachish, Yad Hasmonah, Beth Shemesh (Samson) and Azekah (David and Goliath). Enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate our time in Israel.

 

 

 

DAY 14   SUNDAY, MAY 7  TO THE USA

Transfer to the airport for the flight to the USA. Fly while reliving the experiences of walking and learning the land of the Bible. Arrive LAX this afternoon.
